On October 7th 2019, in Brussels, the BroadWay Pre-Commercial Procurement project reached a decisive point with the signature of framework agreements with the lead tenderers of four successful consortia.

As crime and disasters are not limited to fixed geographical borders, there is a necessity for European first responders to be able to communicate, share and access information regardless of the country they intervene in. This is the challenge tackled by the BroadWay project, a team consisting of 11 procurers from 11 European countries, which came together in May 2018 to procure innovation activity to enable a pan-European broadband mobile system for Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR).

The BroadWay Pre-Commercial Procurement Challenge is critical to enable true pan-European standards-based mission-critical broadband communications for and between PPDR organizations. Rohill, in the position of prime contractor, together with the experience, skills and commitment of our partner Strict and subcontractors Levi9, PrioCom, T-Mobile, Genaker, Druid and PentaTech, is convinced that we can plan and execute the project according the PCP Challenge.

Our partners and subcontractors share the same values on open ecosystems and state-of-the-art technologies that are required to achieve best-in-class solutions and avoid vendor lock-in.

Bert Bouwers, CTO of Rohill: "The BroadWay challenge is a unique opportunity for Rohill to design, develop and demonstrate standards-based interoperability solutions that match our vision on open, secure and scalable mission-critical communication networks. The BroadWay project is a 100% match with the Rohill SUMMUM solution."
